Although Big Data is a big theme for a lot of companies, there is still a lot of educational work to be done. A recent survey by the Big Data Insight Group shows that a majority of companies are either still unfamiliar with big data or still researching the subject. On the other hand, all companies see a need to do something more intelligent with the vast amount of data they are collecting.

Organizations investing in Big Data could add a staggering £216 billion (€261 billion or $342 billion) to the UK economy and contribute towards the creation of ca. 58,000 jobs. This cloud could be realized by 2017, a study from the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr) and business intelligence vendor SAS reveals.
